It Began Like This…

After 10 years of teaching high school and seeing the detrimental results of public education, we decided to home school our children. We focused on two areas. First, when they were three years old, the age when children are like sponges and easily soak up knowledge, we taught them to read by phonics, which gave them the ability to spell and write correctly. Our second focus was on math, giving them a solid foundation in the basic functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, which they could build on with ease and success.

The Results Were Phenomenal…

Our daughter began college at age 14, received a full academic scholarship to Southern Methodist University and  graduated cum laude from the Cox School of Business. She is now a full time math teacher at CCA. Our son started college at 16, graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a major in aviation and is currently a 1st lieutenant and a pilot in the United States Marine Corps.

The Birth Of Campbell Christian Academy…

Admiring our success, others asked us to do for their children what we had done for ours. We began teaching small reading and math classes twice a week. Because the results were so amazing, parents asked us to teach first and second grades. We began our private primary school, and 23 years later, we are still committed to teaching the basics: reading, writing, and arithmetic. Over 8,000 children have benefited from our program. 

Method Soon To Be Published

At CCA, we teach reading and spelling by Pure Phonics™, a proven method written by June Campbell. Her three books based on this method are currently in pre-publication. We teach math by using the most historically successful method of mastering the basics. A series of traditional math books for grades first through eighth titled “Back to the Basics,” written by Kelly Campbell, is expected to be available in 2010.
